Marcus was brought up around horses in Leicestershire, he spent his early childhood playing polo, hunting and keenly following the horse racing.
The racing post was never far from his back pocket when he went to lessons at Uppingham School and amongst studies he would always find the time to watch the best racing.
After graduating from Newcastle University, where he studied history and politics; he went on to spend the next 10 years playing polo professionally and running a barn of up to 20 polo ponies.
Regular trips were made to studs in Ireland, sourcing small thoroughbreds, and turning them into quality polo ponies.
Marcus attended his first racehorse sale in October 2017, where he worked under the tutelage of leading Bloodstock agent Matt Coleman of Stroud Coleman Bloodstock. He worked under his umbrella for 3 years, and continues to help source horses for him. One of their early purchases together was Mr Antolini for a modest £15,000, he subsequently went on to win the Grade 3 Imperial Cup.
Marcus first racing job proper, was for the well known Thurloe Thoroughbreds. The two years he spent with James and Nicky Stafford, as their assistant racing manager, allowed him an unparalleled viewpoint as to how successful racing syndicates should be run, both over jumps and on the flat.
He has been racing manager for Beswick Brothers Bloodstock since December 2018 managing upwards of 30 racehorses as well as broodmares and young-stock. He has assisted in the purchasing of young bloodstock to resell and their excellent results together include the Graded horses Wolf Prince, Speech Bubble and Noah and the Arc.
